Anne Hathaway jokingly called out Succession’s Jeremy Strong for stealing her Princess Diaries look at the 2025 Golden Globes.
Jeremy Strong’s expectation in life? To not be invisible…and he’s good at it.
At the 2025 Golden Globes, the Succession actor—who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor—Motion Picture for his role in The Apprentice—wore a mint green velvet bucket hat and matching Loro Piana suit. And if you ask Anne Hathaway, he was taking fashion inspiration from The Princess Diaries’ Mia Thermopolis.
“Sweetheart, I’m not mad you borrowed it but I didn’t totally realize you were going to change the col…,” Anne captioned the side-by-side comparison of Jeremy and an iconic scene from the 2001 film in her Jan. 6 Instagram post, “anyway, not important, congrats on your well deserved nom for The Apprentice!!!”
Whether the nod to the early aughts film was intentional or not, perhaps Jeremy’s awkward-teen-turned-princess cosplay can be seen as a celebration of the third film that is to come. After all, Crazy Rich Asians screenwriter Adele Lim confirmed in October that The Princess Diaries 3 is in the works.
“As a diehard fan of the original Princess Diaries, I’m beyond excited to be a part of bringing the third iteration of this beloved franchise to life,” Lim said in a statement. “We look forward to celebrating its core tenants of female power, joy and mentorship with audiences worldwide.”
And rest assured, Anne subtly confirmed her involvement in the project that same day.
“Miracles happen,” the 42-year-old captioned her October Instagram post. “Back to Genovia with @adeleblim @disney @somewherepictures. The fairy tale continues.”
After all, she’s been talking about continuing Mia’s story for years.
“We don’t want to do it unless it’s perfect, because we love it just as much as you guys love it,” she told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live in 2019. “It’s as important to us as it is to you and we don’t want to deliver anything until it’s ready. But we’re working on it.”
But Jeremy—though it may have been unintentional—wasn’t the only one to have clear fashion influences at this year’s Globes.
