Full House’s Dave Coulier shared how he’s been adjusting to the side effects of chemotherapy treatment amid his battle with stage 3 Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Dave Coulier is not taking anything for granted.
Nearly two months after the Full House star shared his diagnosis with stage 3 Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of blood cancer involving the lymph nodes, he detailed his ongoing treatment journey, including the side effects of chemotherapy.
Prompted by a meme that read, “If your nose isn’t running right now, appreciate the heck out of that,” the 65-year-old expressed how it was a sentiment he can fully relate to right now.
“I wish it was just my nose running,” Dave told his cohost Marla Sokoloff on the Jan. 10 episode of their Full House Rewind podcast. “It’s been kind of a roller coaster ride. Different effects.”
“The side effects have side effects,” he continued, “and then you take a drug to counteract that and this and that. So it’s this constant cocktail where your body is in fight or flight mode, and you’re just trying to adjust to, like, ‘Okay, how am I adjusting to steroids? How am I adjusting to the chemo cocktail? And then, how am I adjusting to all these other things?’”
For Dave, one thing that he’s found helpful during his recovery has been hearing other people’s experience with the disease.
“I have heard from so many people, Marla, who have been affected by cancer in their lives,” he noted. “And, you know, the words of encouragement have, I think, really helped people.”
And the actor—whose longtime friend and costar John Stamos has been among those showing his support—hopes that these difficult times in his life will, at the very least, encourage others to take preventative action and be vigilant in detecting cancer early.
“If I have to feel a little out of sorts for a few months, then, then so be it,” the comedian explained. “But just being able to alert people that it’s okay to get a colonoscopy or early screenings or a mammogram, it’s really worth it.”
But no matter what happens, Dave—who married wife Melissa Coulier in 2014—shared that he’s adopted a new outlook on life, finding peace in having lived a full life.
“I told Melissa I don’t know why, but I [am] OK with whatever the news [is] going to be no matter how devastating,” he told Today.com last November. “I can’t explain where that came from.”
“I’ve had an incredible life,” he added. “I’ve had the most amazing people in my life. This has been an extraordinary journey, and I’m OK if this is the end of the journey.”

The two-time Oscar winner underwent successful treatment for cancer, and his rep confirmed to E! News that doctors deemed Hoffman “surgically cured.”
The X-Men star was treated for his third basal cell carcinoma back in 2014, and after his third treatment, Jackman’s rep told E! News that he’s “all good” now.
In April 2023, Hugh had two biopsies for additional basal cell carcinoma. At the time, he told fans, “If I can just take this opportunity to remind you summer is coming for those of us in the northern hemisphere, please wear sunscreen.”
