Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce skipped his team’s after-party following his Super Bowl LIX loss against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Travis Kelce couldn’t do it with a broken heart.
After the Kansas City Chiefs were defeated by Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles in the Feb. 9 Super Bowl, the tight end sat out his team’s after-party. Instead, the 35-year-old—whose girlfriend Taylor Swift was in the stands as his team fell to the Eagles 40-22—made a brief cameo while FaceTiming the Chainsmokers, who poked fun at his absence.
“I just played your f–king party,” Alex Pall and Drew Taggart said in a video shared to X Feb. 10, to which Travis flashed a cheeky smile as someone shouted, referencing DJ Dom Dolla, “Dom is here too!”
While Travis skipped the post-game festivities, the party itself was far from empty. Chiefs CEO and chairman Clark Hunt’s daughter, Gracie Hunt, reposted videos of the night to her Instagram Stories, showing people dressed in red taking part in celebrations.
Travis’ decision to sit-out is a bold departure from last year, when the three-time Super Bowl champion was spotted partying with the Chainsmokers, Taylor, and teammates following their win over the San Francisco 49ers.
During the celebration, the couple sang along to Taylor’s Fearless-era hit “Love Story” while holding hands and swaying in tandem to the beat. The two even shared a long kiss after the Grammy Winner pointed to Travis during the line, “you’ll be the prince,” and the NFL star pointed back at her for, “I’ll be the princess.”
This year, however, the couple shared a different kind of night. After the game, Travis was seen making his way to the “Cruel Summer” singer’s VIP suite.
And ahead of the game, Travis gave Taylor her flowers when it came to the Chiefs even making it to this year’s championship, teasing how her show of support helped them reach the big game for the third year in a row.
“We both love to manifest things,” he said during a pre-super bowl press conference. “And you can’t say it’s not real, because we’re here, right? Whatever she was doing, I’m sure it helped.”
