A Deep Dive Into Jason Momoa’s Romance With Adria Arjona

Jason Momoa, who shares two children with ex-wife Lisa Bonet, has found love with Hitman actress Adria Arjona.

It wasn’t too long before Jason Momoa dipped his toe back into the dating pool once he and Lisa Bonet announced their separation in January 2022 after 16 years together, four of them as husband and wife.

But the Aquaman star—who shares daughter Lola, 17, and son Wolf, 16, with his ex-wife—didn’t really dive into another serious relationship until he met his current girlfriend, Morbius actress Adria Arjona.

That’s right, Momoa crossed the DC-Marvel divide to find love.

Though initially he played coy about his paramour’s identity, perhaps trying to keep the veil of privacy intact for as long as possible.

“I am very much in a relationship,” he said May 11 at Basingstoke Comic Con in England. “You’ll find out very soon.”

And sure enough, nine days later he made it Instagram official, posting a snuggly photo of himself with Arjona out to dinner with friends in Japan, plus another of them all smiles while the waves and wind kick up around them, as well as one of the Puerto Rican-Guatemalan actress standing under a neon Harley-Davidson Cycles sign.

“Japan, you are a dream come true you blew my mind,” the Meili Vodka cofounder captioned the May 20 carousel. “We’re so thankful for everyone who opened their homes, making memories with new friends and old friends, sharing another amazing adventure with mi amor.”

Psst, that’s Spanish for “my love.”

And it’s no surprise that Arjona also digs big bikes, considering Momoa isn’t just an avid rider, he’s also a collector of vintage and custom motorcycles.

“My lady likes to ride,” he told Entertainment Tonight at the June premiere of The Bikeriders. “Any excuse for more hugs.”

But in any case, he added, “I travel everywhere and bring my bikes wherever I go when I’m shooting. It just fits with my DNA. Instantly, when I get on, everything just kind of goes away. I’m really focused. I don’t think about anything else ’cause you gotta be on it.”

Especially when steering for two.

And we can only assume Arjona is passionate about protecting the environment, like her boyfriend who’s aiming to reduce plastic waste with his sustainable bottled water brand ManaNalu.

The pair have yet to spill any significant details about their relationship timeline, but it appears they met years ago while making the 2021 Netflix movie Sweet Girl, starring Momoa and Isabela Merced as a father and daughter out for revenge after suffering a tragic loss.

Momoa, 45, had noted in 2022 that it was “hard enough separating in the public eye,” and since his marriage ended he’s been dating as a mega-famous person for the first time, too. The Honolulu native met Bonet back in 2005 when he was just beginning what would be a four-season arc on Stargate Atlantis and was still six years away from breaking out big-time in Game of Thrones.

Arjona was also single for the first time in some years, having separated from lawyer husband Edgardo Canales in 2023 after four years of marriage.

But it’s a small world after all and the 32-year-old joined the cast of Momoa’s former stepdaughter Zoë Kravitz‘s directorial debut Blink Twice, which started shooting in June 2022.

Though while Momoa was at the 2022 premiere of The Batman in support of Kravitz, post-split from Bonet—”It’s still family, you know,” he said at the time—he was not at the Blink Twice premiere last August.

Yet it can’t hurt that Arjona is a massive fan of Kravitz’s, telling CineXpress, “It was really cool to see how protective she was of her actors and her direction was very, very clear. She knew exactly what she wanted and she orchestrated the tone of the movie, which is the biggest challenge of the film, and she nailed it.”

Adding to her momentous 2024, Arjona also starred in Richard Linklater‘s romantic crime caper Hit Man with Glen Powell, shot the final season of the Star Wars universe series Andor, and starred in and produced the indie dramedy Los Frikis in the Dominican Republic. Plus, there’s more in the pipeline.

Hence her noting that waiting at the airport was “the only time where I can kind of have a second,” speaking to IndieWire in December.

“I want to showcase different versions of what a Latin American woman can be,” she said of representing her culture onscreen. “So those three stereotypes that we’re so used to seeing a Latin American woman as, are disheveled by all these quirky, weird characters that I’m playing. That’s my role in it.”

To balance out going to the dark side for a role, she explained to Powell in a winter 2024 Interview conversation, “I try to surround myself with people I love and trust, and who make fun of me and are funny. As long as I’m laughing, I can go through just about anything.”

And it sounds as if she and Momoa share a spiritual side. “I do have little rituals,” Arjona told Powell. “I’m always with a little palo santo. I have crutches of things that I have invented for myself that are good luck.”

Asked if there was a moment when she felt as if she was really carving her own path, personally or professionally, Arjona told Harper’s Bazaar in an interview published June 3 she was “constantly reinventing” herself, as is everybody.

“I think society has made us believe that we’re just one thing,” she explained. “We’re all multifaceted beings, and we’re so capable of being more than just one thing. So, I think slowly you start becoming the version of yourself that you want to truly become and present to the world.”

And when it comes to moments like walking a red carpet, she continued, “I have to put on a facade. I hold on to fashion for that reason. I have to put on armor—and the same thing with photo shoots. I have to depend on other people’s artistry to make me feel something [different], because if not, I’ll be freaking out, and then I’ll leave the red carpet and be shaking like a Chihuahua.”

So with her career starting to take off in a new way—and considering her mixed feelings about the public spectacle side of her job—no wonder she and Momoa are taking it slow in the I’m-with-her-she’s-with-me department.

While not hiding—Momoa dropped some heart emojis in her Instagram comments in October—they have yet to hit one of those nerve-racking red carpet events together.
