Katherine Heigl Shares One Condition for 27 Dresses Sequel

Katherine Heigl exclusively told E! News what it would take for her to return for a 27 Dresses sequel amid her new ventures, which includes her Bandlands Ranch dog nutrition brand.

Katherine Heigl’s future may include a 28th bridesmaid dress.

But amid rumblings that a sequel to 27 Dresses is in the works, the Grey’s anatomy alum—mom to children Naleigh, 15, Adalaide, 13, and Joshua, 8, with husband Josh Kelley—admitted that there is one requirement before she is fully all-in.

“I think that we’re in talks about a 27 Dresses sequel,” Katherine, 46, revealed to E! News’ Francesca Amiker in an exclusive interview, “which, if done right and with that cast I love so much, would definitely be something I’d be willing to sort of compromise the mom time to do.”

The 2008 movie, which also starred James Marsden, Judy Greer, Malin Akerman and Edward Burns, saw Katherine playing perennial bridesmaid Jane, who while helping her younger sister plan her wedding to Jane’s boss and onetime crush, hits it off with the reporter covering the wedding—but with a secret motive.

For Katherine, the sequel—which she previously told E! she would “kill” to do—would have to have just as much heart as the original.

“It would have to be done right, but you don’t want to diminish the first one at all,” she added. “You want to add to it. So, if we can do that and pull it off, I think that would be really fun. And I think they’re working on that.”

But amid Katherine’s excitement for what the 27 Dresses’ future would hold, she’s not the only star who has shared their vison for the sequel. Indeed, James, who played reporter Kevin, admitted that he has an idea for the film’s follow-up, albeit different than the Firefly Lane star’s

27 Children,” James, 51, quipped to E! News. “Bring it on.”

But jokes aside, the Jury Duty star still can’t believe the impact the movie has on fans nearly two decades later.

That movie weirdly has legs that I’m not sure I anticipated in having,” he added. “Just a fanbase that people—when they talk about romantic comedies—you don’t really see too many of those made nowadays.”

In the meantime, before Katherine thinks about putting on another dress, she’s focusing on making sure animals have the proper nutrition with her Bandlands Ranch dog nutrition brand.

“I typically have anywhere from  eight to five dogs,” the Knocked Up star explained to E!, “and at one point, I was trying to make it all myself. I was ultimately spending more money and time making my dogs food than I was for my family.”

And when it came to bring her vision for dog food to life in 2022, Katherine was clear about what she was looking for.

“So, when we started to develop it,” she noted, “I thought, ‘Okay, let’s do something that people can really have faith in and trust, and that it is that kind of quality that we want for our animals.’”

As for her passion outside of film, it’s all about a healthier lifestyle for the other members of her home.

“I’ve been an animal advocate and have had an animal advocacy foundation for the last two and a half decades, so I’m a big animal person,” she said. “I was really excited to be able to create something this unique, something that people can really trust is really good for their pets.”
