Gypsy Rose Blanchard Slams Ex Nicholas Godejohn After Mom’s Murder

Over a decade after Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Nicholas Godejohn murdered her mom Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, the 33-year-old is taking back life: “Justice was served and so was my time.”

Gypsy Rose Blanchard is sharing her truth.

As the 33-year-old navigates life since being released from prison for her role in the 2015 murder of her mom Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, she is holding her ex Nicholas Godejohn—who is serving a life sentence for the crime—accountable for his actions.

“When I accepted my sentence, I accepted the weight of my choices,” Gypsy wrote in a message on Instagram June 25. “I served my time. That was my accountability and I’ve carried it for years. I don’t owe the past anything more. As for Nicholas Godejohn, Yes, he is a deeply disturbed man.”

“But he also knew the difference between right and wrong,” she continued. “Regardless of my role of unintentional manipulation, this type of manipulation isn’t rooted in malice. It’s often a reflection of past trauma, fear of abandonment, or a lack of emotional tools. The key difference is intent.”

The Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up star—who served eight years of her decade-long sentence after pleading guilty to second-degree murder—emphasized that she was “not trying to deceive” anyone. However, she recognized that her actions “still affect others and require self-awareness and growth to correct.”

“Nicholas made the decision to move forward with that night,” she wrote. “That was a choice, and he is not exempt from the consequences of that choice. His diagnosis of Autism/Asperger’s does not excuse what he did. Mental health is complex, but accountability matters and no one is above the law.”

The reality star—mom to her and fiancé Ken Urker’s 5-month-old daughter Aurora—noted that Nicolas’s fate was “decided by a panel of judges, prosecutors, lawyers and 12 jury members who reviewed the same evidence circulating online.”

Gypsy wrote that she will “not carry” the actions of her ex, who was found guilty of first-degree murder in November 2018, on her shoulders anymore.

“I’ve taken responsibility for mine,” she shared. “This next chapter is one of healing. Of growth. Of reclaiming my life. This is freedom. And I’m moving forward with clarity, peace, and self-forgiveness. The Justice system has decided. This case is closed.”

Gypsy—who accused her mom of having Munchausen by proxy—added that Nicholas’ sentence was “justice for DeeDee, as well as myself, who the system failed all my life.”

She concluded her message expressing gratitude to her supporters. “Your love,” she wrote, “has meant more than words can say.”

Gypsy also had a message to her critics, adding, “You lit a fire in me. You gave me the drive to prove you wrong. And guess what? I did. Against the odds, against the noise, I stood strong.”
