Saturday Night Live star Andy Samberg shared a peek into his romance with musician Joanna Newsom, with whom he tied the knot in 2013 and shares two kids.

Andy Samberg is never on a lonely island with Joanna Newsom by his side.

The Saturday Night Live alum, who tied the knot with the musician in 2013, detailed how “lucky” he is to be married to his best friend of “17 or 18 years.”

“It’s fun, really fun,” Andy told Amy Poehler on the July 8 episode of her Good Hang podcast. “Obviously having kids changes things ’cause your responsibilities shift and your sleep schedule [and] obviously a million other things. But anytime there’s a pocket of time where it’s just us, it still feels like we’re getting away with something.”

In fact, the Lonely Island member—who shares two kids with Joanna—likened the playfulness of his relationship to “having a sleepover.”

“It’s fun and there’s no one I would rather be hanging out with and chatting with,” the 46-year-old continued. “It’s amazing. I feel really lucky to get to share my life with her.”

Plus, Andy and the “Have One on Me” singer are more than just best friends—they’re fans of each other’s art, too. 

“Some people at first were like, ‘She likes that stuff that he does?’” the Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor recalled. “But the truth is she does, and did. Her and her siblings are goofballs together and love comedy and I couldn’t believe my luck that that was the case.”

Though Andy and Joanna tend to keep their relationship and family life very private, she has also given small peeks into their romance. 

“He loves the harp,” she told the late Larry King in a 2015 interview. “He’s probably the biggest superfan of my music.”

And the feeling is mutual for the harpist.

“Oh, he’s my favorite person in the world,” she added. “He’s the person I would most want to hang out with at any given moment.”
