One week after Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband Brandon Blackstock’s death at 48, his death certificate shared he experienced seizures amid his cancer battle.
New information about Brandon Blackstock’s tragic passing has come to light.
More than one week after Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband died on Aug. 7 at age 48, his death certificate is sharing more insight into his health as he battled melanoma. According to his death certificate, obtained by People, seizures were listed as “significant conditions contributing to death but not resulting in the underlying cause.”
Silver Bow County Coroner Dan Hollis previously confirmed to E! News that the former music manager died following his battle with melanoma, listing the manner of death as from natural causes.
“Brandon Blackstock passed away peacefully at his home in Butte, Montana on August 7th,” he said, “under hospice care surrounded by his family.”
That same day, a rep for Brandon—who shared kids River Rose, 11, and Remington “Remy” Alexander, 9, Kelly as well as Savannah Blackstock, 23, Seth Blackstock, 18, with ex-wife Melissa Ashworth—confirmed his death following a yearslong battle with cancer.
“Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years,” the rep said in a statement to NBC News. “He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family.”
The rep continued, “We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”
Shortly after, Seth posted a touching tribute to his father.
“I lost my hero yesterday,” the teen wrote on Instagram Aug. 9. “Words can’t describe how proud of you I am on raising me and your 3 other kids.”
Seth continued, “You’ll have to watch me grow up from a Birds Eye view now buts that’s ok with me. There’s no one else on this earth that I would want to be my dad because no one can be half the man you were to me. I’ll see you everyday when the sun rises and falls.”
Melissa also paid tribute to her ex-husband—who she was married to from 1999 to 2012—writing on Instagram Aug. 8, “Brandon was full of charm, witt [sic], and just an absolute gentleman who happened to wear cowboy boots, wrangler jeans, and a cowboy hat. He was by far, hands down, the best Daddy and Pa. He loved hard and he fought hard.”
Referring to Savannah’s kids Lake and Julie as well as her third baby on the way, Melissa added, “I’ve heard it said, ‘Nothing is lost when you know where it is’ and Brandon is with Jesus his Savior. Savannah, Seth, and our grandchildren are the best parts of who Brandon and I are.”
