Sabrina Carpenter, Ricky Martin & More to Perform at MTV VMAs 2025

Sabrina Carpenter, Ricky Martin and Alex Warren are officially among the list of performers hitting the stage at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 7. Find out who else has joined the lineup.

The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards are staying in our good graces.

Because stars like Sabrina Carpenter, Ricky Martin, Alex Warren and J Balvin are all set to take to the main stage at New York’s UBS Arena on Sept. 7 to deliver unforgettable performances.

After all, the “Espresso” singer—who is nominated for eight awards, including Video of the Year for her “Manchild” music video—caused quite the commotion at last year’s award show when she recreated Britney Spears’ iconic kiss with Madonna from the 2003 VMAs during her medley of “Please Please Please,” “Taste” and “Espresso.”

Before breaking into her song “Taste,” the 26-year-old strutted to a backtrack of the bridge to Britney’s song “Oops!… I Did It Again” and welcomed two background dancers: an astronaut in a spacesuit and a blue alien in full large-eyed prosthetics and a short, sheer white dress. She then broke up a dramatic fight between the two before turning to the alien and planting some steamy kisses on their lips.

And while the pop star won her first-ever Moon Person trophy for Song of the Year during the 2024 ceremony, this year’s awards—hosted by LL Cool J—will see breakout singer-songwriter sombr—who is nominated for Best New Artist and Best Alternative for his song “back to friends”—make his award show debut.

For his part, Alex—nominated for Best New Artist, Best Pop and Song of the Year for his hit song “Ordinary”—will also be gracing the VMAs stage for the very first time.

In addition to celebrating these up-and-coming artists, Busta Rhymes will receive the first-ever MTV VMA Rock the Bells Visionary Award to celebrate the cultural impact the rapper has made throughout his decades-long career.

And while Ricky will be receiving the Latin Icon Award as well as celebrating the 26th anniversary of his first VMAs performance—where he made history as the first male Latin artist to win for Best Pop Video—other performers like J Balvin will be premiering new projects.

Indeed, the Colombian artist is set to team up with producer DJ Snake for the live premiere of their new song “Noventa” following a joint performance of his latest hit “Zun Zun” alongside Justin Quiles and Lenny Tavárez.

Ahead of these electric performances at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 7, keep reading to look back at some of the most iconic moments from last year’s award show.
