Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins shared that they are expecting their fifth baby together with the sweetest musical announcement: “Here we go again!”
Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins are adding another member to their band.
After all, the “Die a Happy Man” singer and his wife announced that they’re expecting their fifth baby together.
“Well, I was wrapping my head around being a dad,” Thomas sang with a guitar in hand in the Aug. 26 Instagram video. “Big wrench got thrown in the plans that we thought we had. Now Lauren’s showing—got one on the way.”
“That’s five under 10,” the singer continued as he and Lauren stood by a fence together. “Hey, what can I say. Yeah, life changes. You wake up, ain’t nothing the same. Yeah, life changes.”
Meanwhile, the Live in Love: Growing Together Through Life’s Changes author—who also shares Willa, 9, Ada, 8, Lennon, 5, and Lillie, 3, with Thomas—gently caressed her bump before showing off their latest sonogram.
Alongside the news, Thomas captioned the post, “Here we go again! We’ve got some really excited big sisters in our house. God is so good.”
For the country music star, fatherhood has been a beautiful challenge.
“It’s complete chaos, but I would not change it for the world,” he told Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager on Today in February 2022. “We’re just figuring it out. We’re tired all the time, but we’re learning how to live tired. When Lillie was born, a lot of them were like, ‘What place does this put us in? Are we losing attention now?”
It was especially difficult for their Lennon, who, until Lillie, was the youngest daughter.
“But now, watching them take on this amazing big sister role has been literally one of the coolest things as a dad to get to watch,” he gushed. “It’s been incredible.”
Since he and Lauren welcomed their kids, Thomas found his own footing as a stereotypical dad in the best way.
“My bus is filled with nothing but kid toys,” he explained on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in May 2021. “My shorts are getting shorter, I’m taking a camera everywhere I go—a big camera—tryna just capture all these moments and really just embrace the dad life.”
