Kelly Stafford Gets Candid About Daughter’s Behavioral Issues

Kelly Stafford shared insight into her recent struggles navigating one of her and Matthew Stafford’s four daughters’ behavioral issues: “She has become a little girl I don’t recognize.”

Kelly Stafford is sharing insight into her recent parenting struggles.

The internet personality—who shares daughters Sawyer and Chandler, both 8, Hunter, 7, and Tyler, 5, with Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford—recently admitted that she’s been navigating a difficult journey with one of her little ones.

“One of my daughters I have been very, very much struggling with,” Kelly said during an Aug. 28 episode of her and Hank Winchester’s The Morning After podcast. “She has become a little girl that I don’t recognize. Right now, I’m trying to be mild with it.”

Acknowledging that kids are often the “worst parts of themselves” while they’re at home, Kelly explained that her daughter’s concerning behavior has “trickled into” into the time she spends at school and playing sports.

Indeed, she said her daughter has started “disrespecting coaches and not listening, giving attitude, and walking away while they’re talking to her.”

So, ahead of a recent cookout, the 36-year-old told her daughter she would not be allowed to attend if she continued to misbehave. And the next day, she overheard a concerning conversation between her and her other daughter Tyler.

“Tyler looks at her and said, ‘Wow, you look really pretty in that outfit,’” she recalled. But in response, her other daughter “turned to her, and she looked her up and down—I watched her—and she goes, ‘You look gross.’”

After seeing Tyler burst into tears and retreat to her room, Kelly found it difficult to hold back her anger.

“I’m like, ‘I have tried everything,’” she told her daughter at the time. “’I have tried sitting near your room. I’ve tried taking things away. I have tried just talking to you like a young woman that you are. Nothing is working. I’m exhausted.’”

“And I told her, ‘It’s not fair to your sisters that all of my energy right now is going to you every day because you are acting up,’” she continued. “‘You are causing issues. I don’t know if it’s for attention. Tell me, do you need more from me? Is there something going on in your life that I’m not aware of?’”

In response, her daughter then began to cry and said, “I don’t know why I’m so bad.”

Kelly later told her daughter that, while she loves her unconditionally, seeing her “being mean and a bully for no reason” would result in her walking 30 minutes to and from school to clear her head and reflect on her actions.

But when her daughter ultimately repeated the cycle of bad behavior on the third day of school, it pained Kelly to follow through on her word.

“I cried the entire f–king time she was walking home,” she explained through tears. “And my daughters cried when I left her, but I was like, ‘I don’t know what to do.’”

“I don’t know if it’s because I also have comparisons of girls who are so sweet and kind and do the right things and try to at least,” she added. “And I know that everyone’s like, ‘Oh, well, one’s gonna rebel. You’re gonna have that one child that goes off the tracks.’ One, I don’t believe that. And two, I don’t want that to happen.”

On the field, Matthew Stafford is one of the best quarterbacks of the NFL. But when the football player comes home, he’s simply dad.

During bye-week, Matthew and his wife Kelly Stafford treated their kids to a festive fall day near their home in Los Angeles.

“33 and grateful for the people that fill this home,” Kelly wrote when celebrating her birthday. “Thankful for these girls’ contagious smiles and for a husband who never fails to make me laugh.”

“A pier breakfast, turned beach day, turned watching pro female surfing competition…” Kelly wrote on Instagram. “Pretty epic summer day with great ‘aloha vibes.’”

After playing at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, Matthew was able to reunite with three of his daughters in a suite.

After cheering for Dad all day long, it’s no surprise that Matthew’s kids just want to snuggle after game day.

Whether they are at the stadium or going to school, Matthew’s daughters love to wear the Rams’ team colors.

When Matthew worked from home during COVID-19 shutdowns, his daughters quickly wore him out.

“My whole heart in one photo,” Kelly wrote on Instagram when capturing her daughters snuggling by Matthew.
