John Stamos shared the sweet reason his wife Caitlin McHugh is the “real hero” of son Billy’s 7th birthday, explaining that she’s the one who did the “real work” when she gave birth on April 10. 

John Stamos has a full house of people to celebrate. 

The Full House alum shared a heartwarming message in honor of his son Billy turning 7—and the tribute included a special lengthy shoutout to his partner in raising his growing boy: his wife Caitlin McHugh Stamos. 

“Today our Billy boy turns 7. SEVEN. A magical, chaotic, hilarious, action-packed, deep-feeling, big-hearted SEVEN,” John wrote in an Instagram post April 10. “And while it’s a day to celebrate the joy he brings into the world (and man, does he ever), it’s also a day to celebrate someone else: His mom.”

For the General Hospital star, Caitlin is the “real hero” of Billy’s important day.  

“Because seven years ago, she did all the work. The real work,” John explained. “The growing-a-whole-human-inside-her-body work. The nine months of sacrifice, nausea, back pain, no-sleep, all-love work. The labor that turned her body inside out and her heart wide open.”

And it’s not just giving birth that has impressed the actor. John, 61, noted that Caitlin, 38, was a trooper throughout “the recovery, the healing, the nursing, the nights without sleep” and “the years without rest” as well. 

“So yes, today we celebrate Billy and the magical little human he is becoming,” he said. “But this day—this exact day—will always be hers, too. A reminder of her strength, her love, and everything she gave to bring him into this world.”

“Happy 7th to our boy,” John added. “And happy birth day to the one who made him. We see you, Caitlin. And we love you.”

Of course, while Caitlin—who tied the knot with the Fuller House star in 2018, two months before the couple welcomed their son—may have stolen some of the spotlight on Billy’s birthday, it’s not to say John is any less in awe of his kiddo. 

“I love to watch him see things for the first time, I love to see his point of view on things,” the actor previously told E! News. “He’s my life.”

John added, “I don’t know where I would be without having a kid.”

The Stamos trio donned matching outfits and Santa hats in an adorable pic that was perfect for their 2018 Christmas card.

“Already my favorite Christmas,” Stamos captioned a photo of him and his son spending the holiday season at Disney.

While Billy may have been too young to vote at the time, the Grandfathered actor encouraged everyone to get out and vote during the 2018 midterms.

In October 2018, the California native took a dip with his son in the pool.

The ER alum was caught leaning over to give his son a kiss on Billy’s first Fourth of July.

McHugh snapped this adorable pic of her husband and son on her birthday writing, “I’m the luckiest birthday girl in the world to spend today with you two.”

Stamos went from everyone’s favorite fictional uncle to real-life dad in April 2018 when his and wife Caitlin McHugh‘s son Billy was born. The sitcom star introduced little Billy to his Full House co-stars Bob Saget and Lori Laughlin.
