Maren Morris Gives Rare Insight Into “Mom Mode” With Son Hayes

Maren Morris, who shares 5-year-old son Hayes with ex-husband Ryan Hurd, revealed how she navigates her busy schedule as a mom and musician in an exclusive E! News clip.

Maren Morris is usually busy chasing after Hayes.

After all, the “Bones” singer gave a glimpse into her busy life as mom to her and ex-husband Ryan Hurd‘s son while navigating her day-to-day as a touring artist.

“Since I have a 5-year-old, the first part of the day is like ‘mom mode,’” Maren, Reign Storm’s new ambassador, explained in E! News’ exclusive clip from her behind-the-scenes chat with the energy drink. “Then, when he goes to bed at like 7:30 p.m., I still have a show to do.”

“When I’m home, I go to bed when my son does,” she continued, “but when I’m on tour, it’s like two days in one. By the time day two happens, it’s show time.”

So, it’s no surprise that the Grammy winner teamed up with Reign Storm energy drink as their new ambassador. Not only does she not have “any jitters during the show,” she added that she feels “hydrated” and ready to “sing and have the stamina for 90 minutes.”

Although juggling motherhood while on tour requires some major patience and energy, Maren has always loved having Hayes by her side. In fact, she first took him cross-country when he was just 2 years old.

“He thinks the tour bus is like camp or something because he just has no idea what’s going on, but he gets so excited,” she gushed to E! News in June 2022. “This will be my first time touring with a baby or a kid, so I’m excited. It’s gonna change my way of doing things in a good way.”

After welcoming him in February 2020, she admitted that motherhood upended her perspective on her career. However, it ultimately helped her grow as a parent and as an artist.

“I had this new purpose as a mother, but as an artist who’s been touring half of their life, I really felt out to sea in a lot of ways,” she explained. “It helped me recalibrate my priorities and know that as much as I love what I do, I don’t do it to be loved anymore. I do it because I love it, and I think that was a healthy pill to swallow.”

Eventually, Maren found her rhythm and mastered the duality of her home life and career, which she considered her most impressive feat yet.

“Just being able to be a mother and an artist on the road simultaneously, not having to split duties or do one or the other,” she explained to E! of her biggest achievement in December 2022. “Being able to do both, that felt like a personal and professional high.”
