Charli XCX Marries The 1975’s George Daniel in Town Hall Ceremony

Charli XCX tied the knot with The 1975’s George Daniel during an intimate ceremony at London’s Hackney Town Hall on July 19. Read on for more details from their sweet ceremony.

Brat summer looks a little bit different this year.

Because instead of hopping from club to club in her lime green accessories, Charli XCX—whose real name is Charlotte Emma Aitchison—tied the knot with The 1975 drummer George Daniel, as seen in photos shared to social media, on July 19 at London’s Hackney Town Hall.

For the occasion, the “Party 4 U” singer donned an off-the-shoulder Vivienne Westwood wedding dress with a corseted bodice and cinched waist. Meanwhile, the record producer sported a classic black suit with a white boutonnière to match Charli’s bouquet.

And after they said their vows, the pair sealed the deal by sharing a kiss on the front steps of the town hall before the Grammy winner popped on her iconic sunglasses and exited the venue.

The couple’s intimate ceremony comes after Charli subtly announced their engagement on social media in November 2023 when she shared a picture of a tea tray with an engagement ring on it to her Instagram with the caption, “charli xcx and george daniel f–king for life!!!”

And though Matty Healy wasn’t spotted at their nuptials, The 1975 frontman celebrated their engagement at the time by writing, “I cry.”

To rewind even further, Charli, 32, and Daniel, 35, first connected in 2021 while working together on the song “Spinning.” And despite their romance, the two have continued to collaborate musically—despite the pros and cons of working with your significant other.

“We want to impress each other, and we think we’re both really good,” she told Rolling Stone U.K. last year, “but I’m actually such a b—h in the studio with George.”

“Because we’re obviously so close, you lose everything in terms of the normal studio boundaries,” she continued. “We flow really well and he leaves a lot of space for people to breathe and be them and do their process.”

Even when it came to her sixth studio album, Brat, she teased that George played a small part in its creation.

“He’s not really all over it, but we’ve got a few ideas in the works,” she said on the Spout Podcast ahead of the album’s release. “It’s funny, I have never sort of been in a relationship with someone that I’ve worked with, so it’s like a whole new dynamic.”
