Julianne Hough had nothing but love for her ex-husband Brooks Laich and his fiancée Katrín Tanja Davíðsdóttir after the couple got engaged on Dec. 16.
Julianne Hough is dancing with joy for her ex Brooks Laich.
The Dancing With the Stars host had nothing but kind words for the former hockey player—who she was married to from 2017 until 2022—after he got engaged to CrossFit athlete Katrín Tanja Davíðsdóttir on Dec. 16.
“Congratulations,” she wrote in the comments section of the couple’s engagement announcement on Instagram Dec. 27. “I’m so happy for you both as you step into this beautiful new chapter together.”
The 36-year-old added, “Wishing you both a lifetime of love, laughter, and endless adventures.”
But this isn’t the first time Julianne crossed paths with her former husband and his new love. After all, she previously ran into the couple—who went public with their romance in 2021—at a wedding.
“It was so beautiful,” Julianne recalled of the encounter during a September episode of The Jamie Kern Lima Show podcast. “I’m in this place where I now feel like I’m just beginning with so much wisdom, with so much insight, with so much empathy and understanding of what’s possible.”
In fact, she said the interaction was part of a larger cycle of self-healing.
“I’ve never felt more stable,” the Rock of Ages actress explained. “I’ve never felt more secure, I’ve never felt more consistent, I’ve never felt more loved by the people around me than I do right now. I’m like, ‘Wow, I really have such a clean slate.’”
And while her marriage to Brooks had its rocky moments, the relationship still has a special place in her heart.
“It was the greatest thing that could have happened to me at that time in my life,” Julianne told host Jamie Kern Lima, explaining that “what I needed at that time was to reconnect to my 10-year-old self.”
She added of Brooks, “A lot of our dynamic was this little girl feeling and this stability and stable man to be there. He provided such a beautiful foundation for me to be a little girl.”
And Brooks isn’t the only celeb heading down the aisle. Keep reading to see who else got engaged in 2024.
