Three weeks before Paige DeSorbo revealed her breakup with Craig Conover, the Southern Charm star shared that marriage and kids were likely in their future, saying, “We’re playing the long game.”
It looks like Craig Conover‘s relationship didn’t turn out exactly how he planned.
Three weeks before Paige DeSorbo revealed she and the Southern Charm star broke up, Craig explained how the pair intended to take their romance to the next level in the near future.
“We know we’re going to get married one day, and when it happens, it’ll be a lot of fun,” Craig told People in an interview published Dec. 5, “but whenever that is, who knows?”
“We’re playing the long game,” Craig shared. “It would be easy to go for instant gratification, but the foundation that we’re building is so that we die together one day, not just make it fun.”
And while the 35-year-old didn’t have an exact timeline for when he and Paige, 32, would exchange vows, he didn’t believe that was a problem.
“There’s no reason to put pressure on it,” Craig said. “I think people will have a lot more of our lives to watch because we’re taking our time than if we were to rush it.”
He added, “We’ve got a couple years probably until we start having kids, and then we’ll have to figure it out.”
However, three weeks later, Paige announced that she and Craig had called it quits following three years of dating, insisting that there was “no bad blood” between them even though she “wasn’t expecting” the split.
“He is one of the best people I’ve met in my entire life,” the Summer House star shared on the Dec. 30 episode of her and Hannah Berner‘s Giggly Squad podcast. “I will remain the biggest fan of him and want the best for him, and he truly will get the best because he is the best.”
And though Craig hasn’t publicly addressed the breakup, Paige provided some insight into the couple’s decision to part ways, emphasizing that it was “the right decision.”
“No one did anything. It wasn’t a bad thing,” she said. “I think we both were just being really mature and saying what we want and what we didn’t want, and I think that’s extremely powerful to be able to voice how you’re feeling in real-time and what you want for your future.”
